The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Educator Licensing and Effectiveness (OELE), Division of Educator Preparation and Certification, Educator Preparation Branch in Frankfort (Franklin County) has an opening for a KBE/KDE Education Academic Program Manager ā Early Numeracy Program Manager.ā
āDUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supports the development and implementation of high-quality foundational mathematics instruction across educator preparation programs (EPPs) by ensuring that early childhood and elementary educators are equipped to deliver conceptually rich, developmentally appropriate, and evidence based early numeracy instruction. As an Academic Program Manager within the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE/KBE) Office of Educator Licensure and Effectiveness, collaborates with EPP faculty, KDE staff, and external partners to align coursework and clinical experiences with state standards, research based best practices, and statewide tools such as the Kentucky Mathematics Innovation Tool (KMIT).
Provide program support and alignment by assisting educator preparation programs to align coursework and field experiences with state expectations for early mathematics instruction, supporting curriculum review and feedback on early numeracy components in program submissions, and coordinating with KDE staff and stakeholders to ensure consistent early numeracy preparation expectations across programs.
Provide targeted technical assistance to educator preparation programs (EPPs) to strengthen early mathematics instructional design and delivery. Guide EPPs in the effective use of the Kentucky Mathematics Innovation Tool (KMIT) to improve instruction, identify gaps, and promote continuous improvement. Collect, analyze, and report KMIT-related data to highlight statewide trends, identify professional learning needs, and recommend enhancements to EPP practices. Develop and share resources, tools, and templates to support evidence-based early numeracy instruction, while staying current with research and policy related to early numeracy development and instruction.
Organize and facilitate professional learning opportunities for EPP faculty focused on early numeracy learning trajectories, mathematics content knowledge, and effective pedagogy. Collaborate with internal teams, EPP leaders, and external partners to advance high quality early mathematics instruction statewide. Serve as a connector between EPPs and state and national resources, tools, and communities of practice dedicated to mathematics education.
Contribute to monitoring and continuous improvement by analyzing EPP data related to early numeracy preparation, including KMIT data. Assist in refining review processes and rubrics to strengthen the evaluation of mathematics-related program components and identify promising practices that enhance candidate preparation for early mathematics instruction.

Gross Monthly Salary Range: $8,434.16
