The Kentucky Department of Education, Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Division of State Schools, has an opening for a KSD Instructional Assistant at the Kentucky School for the Deaf in Danville.

ASL Job Posting: KSD Instructional Assistant

Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:

  • Assist students with disabilities in a classroom setting, during transition between buildings and classes and on school trips. Works individuals or in small groups with students.
  • Assists classroom teachers with instructional needs. Collaborate with teachers and accept direction/guidance from teachers. Follow expectations established by classroom teacher. Assist with preparation of instructional materials.
  • Works with behavior challenged students with appropriate behavior techniques. Attends training offered by the school relating to education. May cover classes when necessary.
  • Provides office support and coverage as needed to include answering phones, greeting visitors, filing and making copies.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Requirements

Education:
High School Graduate

Experience, Training, or Skills:
Two (2) years of experience working within a school or classroom environment.

Substitute Education for Experience:
Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

Substitute Experience for Education:
None
