Harold McKinney

Harold McKinney served as Boyle County’s judge executive from 2008 to 2018. 

McKinney has been involved in education for decades as he has been on the parent teacher associations at Toliver Elementary School and Bate Middle School (Danville Independent). 

He received his bachelor's degree in 1973 from Centre College in Danville and went on to receive a law degree from the University in Kentucky in 1988. From 2008 to 2018, he served as Boyle County’s judge executive. 

Early in his career, McKinney was an administrator at Kentucky State Hospital. He also worked as a Boyle County Health Department administrator, assistant county attorney, attorney for the Kentucky Auditor of Public Accounts for six years and was in a private law practice. 

McKinney was appointed to the Kentucky Board of Education in March 2025. His term will expire April 14, 2028.
