Purpose: The Testing Board of Review and the Commissioner of Education work together to ensure the integrity of all state-required assessments is maintained. Pursuant to 703 KAR 5:080, the Testing Board of Review is charged with providing a recommendation to the Commissioner of Education regarding testing allegations made to the Kentucky Department of Education (KDE).
The KDE receives more than 300 allegations of inappropriate testing practices each year that are reviewed by the Testing Allegations Coordinator and other KDE investigators. The Board reviews the results of those investigations. Then the Board makes recommendations to the Commissioner of Education for disposition of each allegation.
The Testing Board of Review typically meets once per month, every third Monday, for approximately two hours.
Membership: The Commissioner of Education appoints the Board members to represent various divisions within KDE. In order to maintain the independence of the board, members do not include persons whose job duties include either investigation of cheating allegations or who work in the assessment and accountability area of KDE. Each Board member receives Administration Code Training.
There is no required number of board members per the regulation, however the board typically has 6 members.
