Summer Food Service Program (SFSP)

Published: 9/19/2023 3:30 PM

For families counting on school breakfast and lunch, the summer months can be stressful, stretching family food budgets beyond their limits. The Summer Food Service Program, led by the Kentucky Department of Education, helps low-income children and teens up to age 18 at risk of inadequate nutrition with free, nutritious meals during the summer months when school is not in session.

More than 2,000 meal sites across Kentucky provide breakfasts, lunches, snacks, and suppers each summer through the USDA Summer Food Service Program.

For program information or to find a site near where you live, visit the USDA Summer Food Service Program website and the KY Kids Eat website.

When meals are being served in the summer, beginning June 1, Summer Meal Site information can be found by texting the word “food” or “comida” to 304304. When prompted by text, enter a specific address and a list of local meal sites will be provided.
