The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Continuous Improvement and Support, Division of School and Program Improvement, District 180 has an opening for an Educational Recovery Specialist/Education Recovery Leader position, in Franklin County.​

​DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Educational Recovery Specialist (ERS) and/or Educational Recovery Leader (ERL) will serve in Comprehensive Support and Improvement (CSI) and/or provide support to Targeted Support and Improvement (TSI) schools to assist and support staff in the following areas while focusing on leadership, math, and literacy in order to:

Assist school staff in utilizing needs assessment mechanisms such as the Key Core Work Processes to determine the “as is" state of the school according to priority areas.

Guide school leaders and teams in creating systems and structures to address the identified deficits highlighted by the Key Core Work Processes and eventually the improvement priorities noted in the school's diagnostic review, where applicable.

Assist leadership in ensuring curriculum is systematically aligned/revised to state and local standards through a continuous improvement process involving Professional Learning Community (PLC) structures.

Assist school leadership in ensuring the grade-appropriate curriculum is implemented in all classrooms.

Work with staff to ensure the creation of a system of school-wide and classroom assessments that are rigorous and authentic are utilized to inform and improve instruction to meet the needs of all students.

Assist in creating systematic opportunities for school leaders and staff to collect and analyze relevant data that inform decision-making and development of Response To Intervention (RTI) practices.

Assist teachers in developing and implementing effective and varied, evidence-based instructional strategies to be used in all classrooms.

Provide resources and opportunities that will ensure the school functions as an effective learning community to support and promote a safe and orderly environment that encourages learning (e.g., Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support [PBIS], Multi-Tiered Systems of Support [MTSS]).

Assist staff in working with families and community groups to remove barriers to learning.

Seek and provide appropriate, job-embedded professional learning opportunities for teachers and administrators based on school-wide needs assessment and identified individual and group areas for growth to enhance teaching and learning.

Assist with embedding processes for continuous improvement and systems within the school culture so that they guide the work of all staff in decision-making around teaching and learning.

Assist in organizing the school's linkage and systems to include all available resources, fiscal and human, to ensure maximum effectiveness and build capacity in school staff and teams on the use of processes and tools for improvement.

Collaborate with leaders and stakeholders on the development, implementation, monitoring, communication, and evaluation of the Comprehensive School Improvement Plan (CSIP).

Assist in the implementation of activities designed for CSI schools.

Assist school turnaround and leadership teams in more effective and regular meeting facilitation.

Guide school turnaround teams in the use of relevant and appropriate evidence-based practices to address improvement priorities and aid in continuous improvement.

Assist school and district leaders in more appropriate allocation of School Improvement Funds (SIF).

Conduct classroom walkthroughs with school leadership and assist in revising or creating the school's walkthrough instrument and walkthrough cycle as needed.

Guide school leaders in assessing the effectiveness of the current PLC structure and help with revision as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.

Applicants and employees in this classification may be required to submit to a drug screening test and background check. 

Applicants currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given. 
 
NOTE: This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education.
