"To build a prosperous Kentucky, we will launch an accountability system that is meaningful and useful to all our learners."

​Throughout the summer of 2024 the Kentucky United We Learn Council created multiple prototypes see the journey to the framework below.

  • December 4, 2024: Shared framework 1.0 with the KBE for review and feedback. ​
  • ​November 20, 2024: Shared framework 1.0 with KUWL council members for review and feedback in two virtual sessions.

  • August 16, 2024: Draft of Prototype 4.0 completed for review. 
  • August 20, 2024: Finalized accompanying survey to Prototype 4.0.
  • August 30, 2024: Shared Prototype 4.0 with KUWL council members.
  • September 12, 2024: Presented Prototype​​ 4.0 at the DAC meeting​ and during the Superintendent Webcast​
  • September 13, 2024: Launched the Prototype Resource Webpage and shared the survey publically. 
  • September 23-24, 2024Shared prototype 4.0 and the survey at the Continuous Improvement Summit.​​​
  • October 1, 2024: Hosted the KUWL Council's 36 District Focus Group Session. 
  • October 4, 2024: Closed survey to begin data analysis. 
  • October 8, 2024Presented at the KBE Meeting​.​​​
  • October 21-22, 2024KUWL Council Fall Convening​.

Focus Group Information:
​As part of the study phase for the Reimagining Assessment and Accountability Prototype Version 4.0, 36 Kentucky districts were chosen to participate in focus groups including 18 Local Laboratories of Learning (L3) districts and 18 non-L3 districts. This selection ensures a diverse representation of the state's geography and student demographics.​

  • August 7, 2024: Shared at the KBE Retreat for review and feedback.
  • August 8, 2024: Began updates on Prototype 3.0 based on feedback.


Version 2.0
Reimagining Assessment and Accountability – Prototype Version 2.0​​

  • July 9, 2024: Completed upd​ates to Prototype 2.0.
  • July 9, 2024: Released informational video and survey on Prototype 2.0 following the Superintendent webcast for review and feedback.
  • July 16, 2024: Shared informational video and survey with all Superintendents, Kentucky Board of Education (KBE), Kentucky Association of School Superintendents (KASS), Kentucky Association of School Administrators (KASA), Kentucky Department of Education(KDE) Advisory Groups, District Assessment Coordinators (DACs).
  • July 16, 2024: Presented Prototype 2.0 at the School Curriculum, Assessment and Accountablity (SCAAC) Meeting for review and feedback.
  • July 19, 2024: Closed survey to initiate data analysis.
  • July 29, 2024: Shared Prototype 2.0 and survey results at the KUWL Council Summer Convening.
  • July 30, 2024Updated Prototype to Version 3.0, incorporating survey feedback and council input.​​​

  • May 28, 2024: Shared with the Kentucky United We Learn (KUWL) Council’s Menu of Options Workgroup for initial review and feedback.
