Pursuant to 702 KAR 7:125E the student participation report records student engagement in lieu of attendance for SY 2020-2021. Daily participation can be measured by one instance of in person attendance, or one of the following methods of remote instruction:

  1. One-on-one video communication or phone calls between teacher and student (or teacher and parent with smaller children or students with special needs);
  2. Group video communication or phone calls between the teacher and a whole class or between a teacher and smaller groups of students within a class;
  3. Student time logged into a learning management software system completing assignments; or
  4. Submission of paper-based assignments for students in a non-digital, non-traditional setting.

Chronic Absenteeism

 Chronic Absenteeism data for the 2020-21 school year and 20212-22 school year are not comparable to prior year chronic absenteeism data reported on the Kentucky School Report Card due to traditional attendance not being collected. Chronic absenteeism data for the 2020-21 school year is based on daily student participation. Chronic absenteeism data for the 2021-22 school year is based on daily attendance data, but due to COVID levels and quarantines many student attendance records utilized coding for “temporary remote instruction" and/or “quarantined receiving services". These codes may have impacted chronic absenteeism calculations which use Kentucky's half day/whole day attendance model.
