The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Special Education and Early Learning, Division of State Schools, Kentucky School for the Deaf (KSD) in Danville, Kentucky (Boyle County) has an opening for an Administrative Specialist Senior.​

​DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Provide professional support to the Principal and Director of Special Education at the Kentucky School for the Deaf in the oversight, implementation and compliance of mandated federal and state statutes and regulations regarding the Individuals with Disabilities Act (IDEA).

Maintain all due process paperwork and files to ensure compliance with the provisions of IDEA legal requirements. Conduct research and manage processes to ensure all deadlines and compliance requirements are met. Ensure and maintain confidentiality in record keeping between state schools, local education agencies (LEA) and parent/guardians.

Document and schedule all Admission and Release Committee (ARC) meetings within state and federal IDEA statutory and regulatory timelines. Provide professional support and assistance with communication between state schools, LEAs, families, and other required members. Provide professional support with ADA accommodations needed for participants during the ARC meetings.

Coordinate and conduct campus tours to prospective KSD students and families. Communicate and work with LEAs requesting a referral through district evaluation.

Collaborate and assist with multiple staff across campus to provide access to families for special assignments to include student registration, opening/closing day, campus activities and special events.

Draft communications to families regarding special education federal and state reporting timelines and surveys.

Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION:

Graduate of a college or university with a bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, OR SKILLS:

Three years of professional, administrative, or business experience.

SUBSTITUTION:

EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE:

Additional education will substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.

EXPERIENCE FOR EDUCATION:

Additional administrative, business, research, and/or clerical experience will substitute for the required education on a year-for-year basis.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

None.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

Prior knowledge of American Sign Language (ASL) is preferred.

Gross Monthly Salary Schedule Range: $3,085.72 - $4,628.66
