The Kentucky Department of Education (KDE), Office of Teaching and Learning, Division of Academic Program Standards, has an opening for an Assistant Director, Franklin County.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Strategy Leadership
Provide direct support services to the division director.
Alongside the division director, provide technical management assistance to managers in the division.
Represent the division of academic program standards' priorities and vision in working with other agency offices, advocacy groups, Kentucky educators, and other stakeholders.
Team Leadership
Alongside the division director, hire, support, and supervise professional staff providing consultative services and technical assistance to local school district personnel and other state and private educational agencies in the development, coordination, implementation and monitoring of educational programs.
Perform duties in absence of the division director.
Implement program goals as identified by the Division of Program Standards and the KDE Strategic Plan including KyMTSS, Module Curriculum Framework and academic grants.
Collaborate with internal and external partners to achieve agency, office and division goals.
Assist in the completion of formal documents, preparation of presentation materials and development of other written communication.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Project management skills, including long-range planning, progress monitoring and ability to juggle multiple complex and long-term projects.

Knowledge of instructional systems in schools and districts, including concepts of effective professional development, high-quality curriculum, and the systems and structures that are needed to improve student outcomes.

Desired Experience:
Experience teaching in the pre-K-12 classroom.
Experience leading other educators, in a position either with or without formal authority.

Applicant currently under contract with a local school district are required to provide a written release from their superintendent prior to an offer of employment will be given.
NOTE: This position will be filled through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA). The applicant selected for this position must be an employee of a Kentucky local school district or institution of higher education.
